How has the iPad saved you money or time over a laptop?

Q. I would love to hear the benefits an iPad has other than just another cool techology that Apple has developed. So far I have not felt a 'need' to own one as it will be just be 'more stuff' I have to upgrade and maintain. How has it benefited YOU over what a laptop already provides?

A. I don't think it will save money it will actually encourage people to shed another 600 bucks for something that they never had needed.

But time is real factor for the success of iPad or you may say iPad is the first tablet or Netbook like device which is successful.
Many professionals are using iPad for their work. News, that a lawyer took out iPad for some reference, was floting around last month. 1 in every 4 doctors are either using or will be buying shortly
http://obamapacman.com/2010/02/epocrates-reports-1-in-4-doctors-likely-to-buy-apple- ipad-tablet-within-the-year/
It does save time to the extent that I prefer to do everything on iPad. My job require me to create word document ,presentation then upload to various WebDAV server like DropBox,Box.net.

I used to open one tab for each WebDAV server and then find the document by name after that upload one by one. In the mean time I also had to minimize and maximize the document many time.

On iPad ,it's piece of cake and even 4 years old kid can upload several documents in few seconds. Everything is set up, select all the files directly and hit upload button , you are done. And creating documents is super easy.

Since I got the iPad I have not used my MacBook Pro and Toshiba Satellite. I however have to use my Desktop iMac sometimes.

Recently I was watching MTV Movie Awards Live on iPad, my co worker tried to watch the same on PC , he was bombarded by Flash based ad banners and pop ups. He was not even annoyed with it because thats the way we all have using our devices.

But my iPad was running as if I am playing an original DVD. I love the fact that iPad doesn't support buggy flash. We then compared Netflix video quality on PC and iPad and found video quality on iPad was significantly better.

In a month I normally make 50 presentation out of which as many as 45 can easily be created on iPad and I do create on iPad. Only 5 are over complicated so I do on iMac or my office computer.

But the ones that I make on iPad look simply stunning and it takes way lesser time than any body would take to create the same presentation on PC.

iPad's battery is magical. I use iPad to extreme but still it lasts over 15 hours.By the time PC completes booting process I finish many task on iPad. It definitely saves time for me.

I have Xbox 360 and Wii but I hardly get time to play. Now I spare time to play on iPad. It's great fun.
Overall I am obsessed with iPad

What is the difference between an iPad and an iPhone/iPod touch?
Q. To me, the iPad seems just like a giant iPod touch. How are they different? Does the iPad have different capabilities? I already have an iPod touch, so would it be a waste to get an iPad?

A. The iPod touch and iPhone are awesome, whereas the iPad is the spawn of evil and capitalism. If you already have an iPod touch, don't waste your money on an iPad. If you're going to spend that much for what is basically a laptop without flash bred with the iPod touch...you may as well get an actual laptop.

To answer your actual question, the major difference between the iPad and the touch (aside from size) is that you can create documents, charts, and presentations on the iPad...of course you have to pay to download the programs that allow you to do so, but that's apple for you. Granted, you'll have to pay for the equivelent of these programs too if you go for a laptop. Of course, with a laptop, you're far less likely to have to deal with your stupid contraption shutting off and losing all your work because it gets too hot. :|

How do I get my iPad to print to my wireless printer?

Q. I have a iPad and a wireless printer which i hooked up to my wireless internet. However, when I searched for printers to print to on my iPad it came up with none. How can I get my iPad to recognize and pick up my wireless printers signal?

Thanks!

A. Printers need to receive the data in a format that they understand, and that usually requires specific drivers loaded onto computers in order to do that. However, HP has several printers that are made specifically to work with iPods & iPads.

Though you might have some other options. Check out the following links for some info that might work for you as one says you can also print using AirPrint to a non-wireless printer that is plugged into an Apple Airport Express via Ethernet.

How to update your iPad without deleting anything?
Q. I just updated my iPad and some apps and a few other things were deleted. My email account settings disappeared as well. How to update your iPad without deleting anything?

A. Connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases to your computer's iTunes via

File > Transfer Purchases.

You should also backup the device (right-click the iPad 'device' and select 'back up'), and copy off any important documents, file, notes etc (e.g. by email, the file sharing section at the bottom of the Apps tab in iTunes, wifi, whatever the apps that you use support) - the update process should backup and restore the content but it's best to be safe and try and minimise any data/content loss if the update doesn't go smoothly.

I heard that jailbreaking an iPad is now becoming illegal. What are the legal consequences?
Q. I heard that jailbreaking an iPad is now illegal. What are the legal consequences of jailbreaking one? Can they throw you in jail for it or make you pay a fine? And what if a peron already has a Jailbroken iPad?

A. No. Why would it be illegal? It will void the Apple warranty, but just like you can take out a stock car engine, and put in a new one, same thing with changing the default settings on the iPad.

How can you share your views in an ipad through apple TV?

Q. Ipad Through Apple TV
I would like to share my playing a game in the ipad, so people can see it in the TV. I already have the Appel TV and can already share movies, videos and music, but I would like to share other views from my ipad.

A. Share what views? do you mean as in opinions or views as in a number??

I don't fully understand the question as it doesn't really make complete sense.

EDIT: Ah right ok, you want to connect the iPad to the TV. In this case, there is no need in the Apple TV because you need to buy a 30-pin Adapter with a HDMI connection in (only for HD tv sets however).

Example: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD098ZM/A?fnode=MTc0MjU4NjE
for HD TV set.

Example: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC748ZM/A?fnode=MTc0MjU4NjE
for non-HD TV set.

Does the iPad have external speakers, and can you also plug headphones into it?
Q. I've been thinking about getting an iPad. I was wondering if it had any sort of external speakers (or like the iPhone, doesn't, but still can project sound)? And also if you can plug a regular headphone jack into it. It seems like it would be pretty thin (I've never used an iPad) so it seems kind of like regular headphones wouldn't be able to plug into it.
Thanks!
How is it not portable? It looks super portable.

A. DANNY never got an iPad he is just a frustrated guy.He said he paid 15% restocking fees but restocking fees for iPad return is 10%.

Now coming to the question:

Yes it has built in speakers which is pretty decent. It also has headphone jack. I got a headphone splitter so two people can put earphones on.

Headphone jack is regular and any headphone/earbud will work so no worries and yes it's very thin and I love my iPad to death. you can watch almost every TV show online for free. And watch movies free online or you can also stream movie from Netflix.

It iPad version of MS Office which is amazing.

Don't forget to get iPad case coz case gives you an angle that makes typing a pleasure. It also works as stand to watch videos.

How can I create iPad Folders that are private and password protected?
Q. The iPad is often shared by multiple users in a family. I'd like to be able to restrict access to some apps and ideally should be able to create a folder in which i place all such apps and protect access to this folder with a password. Is there a way to achieve this or an App that gives you this ability for security for a private folder?

A. I dont know about.. Ipads..

But..
If ur ipad suppourts java applications..
That means .jar , .jad

ifso download fileexplorer.jar applicatio free download from google.. And try it.. It has password protection for particular folder..

Sooo....get a friggin laptop.

What is the best ipad case that protects the screen from cracking?
Q. Last night I shattered my ipad screen. Now I've got a new screen and I want to keep it from happening again. Price doesn't matter. Though I am a klutz, so maybe something klutz-proof.

How can i update my Ipad 1 when in general settings it doesnt give me the software update option?

Q. I want to download some apps and my ipad says i need ISO 5 or something like that. I googled how to update and it said to go to general settings and click on software update, but there is nothing that says software update!! Help please!

A. This is not true I have an ipad one with ios 5. You need to plug it into itunes and there should be an option to update the software.

What is the difference between an iPad and an iPod touch fourth generation?
Q. To me the only difference is the iPad is bigger? Are they basically the same thing? If you already had the iPod touch fourth generation would you get an iPad? Do you love your iPad?

A. yes, no, and no. yes the ipad is an ipod only bigger, as you hopefully know apple make things complicated and overpriced. An ipad is called a tablet and you can buy a better one for 300$ less. apple bans flash player and forces you to buy an app for eveything that uses it. most android tablets have flash support and i would under no circumstances buy a tablet without flash player. Apples number one goal is to be completely incompatible and to annoy you into selling everything you own and buying all apple things

yes i own an ipod and have experienced this all firsthand.

What's the difference between the ipad and the ipod touch?
Q. Other than the larger size in the ipad, the reading feature, the keyboard docking and camera connecting feature, the 3G, and the microphone, are there any other benefits of the ipad over the ipod touch. Also, how much is the monthly fee for the 3G network on the ipad?

A. 1. The iPad uses an enhanced version of the iPhone's mobile version of OSX.
3. The iPad uses a different chip called the A4 chip. Custom built by Apple.
4. The iPad has up to 10 hours of battery usage.
5. It can go for standby for a month.
6. You get free use of AT&T's WiFi hotspots.
7. No contract- per-paid.

You pay $14.99 for 258 MB of data per month.
You pay 29.99 for unlimited data per month.

Otherwise you'll have to get an AirPrint compatible printer:

You would need a compatible ePrint/AirPrint printer in order to do that. See this website:

Here is a list of compatible printers currently:
AirPrint-enabled printers
HP Envy e-All-in-One series (D410a)
HP Photosmart Plus e-AiO (B210a)
HP Photosmart Premium e-AiO (C310a)
HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-AiO (C410a)
HP Photosmart e-AiO (D110)
HP Photosmart eStation (C510)
HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer
HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fn Color Multifunction Printer
HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer
HP LaserJet Pro CP1525n Color Printer
HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer
HP Officejet 6500A e-AiO
HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-AiO

HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-AiO
HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus e-AiO

Without one of those printers, you'll not be able to print like you want.
